We try not to draw lines and live what we say,"ALL are welcome".
We are in El Paso's northeast, easily accessible from US 54, on the corner of Kenworthy and Sun Valley.
HOWEVER…another side to us is what is good, honorable, just, generous, kind, loving, helpful, resilient, compassionate … and the list of positive attributes goes on and on….
The ancient theologians called these two natures; “Justus et peccatar.” (Latin). Means “At the same time, we are saint and sinner.”
At New Hope, we present this reality of saint and sinner. Our liturgies express confession. Yet, the overall thrust is positive. We organize ministry to extend God’s love to others. In each sermon you and I should hear the clear message that we’re beloved. We’re given hope. We’re empowered with God’s gifts to keep on doing goodness. We’re amongst compassionate people who are safe. We pray and are prayed for. We’re welcomed, no matter who we are. Our goodness is accentuated, bolstered, and put to work.
Why? Each one of us is created in the very image of God. We really are beloved. Eternally. Welcome.
Here we go!
Interim Pastor Jeff Swanson
Greetings New Hope Lutherans and Friends
For many years, I’ve been thinking about the history of “salvation” teachings in the Church, beginning amongst the first Christians. So, I’ve decided to write a series of short essays. Limited to 500 words each. Easy reads...click on the button to begin :)
